Seriously internet I’m done, this is the LAST time I’m writing about Sony. My fingers want to engage in more meaningful activities than to help me write about a multi billion dollar company that has been well respected for many many years and is now gently being disregarded in terms of trust. I’m just a dude who wants to play Portal 2, that’s all.
So lets get started; A Canadian law firm has proposed a class action lawsuit in excess of $1 BILLION dollars against Sony for:
– The breach of consumer privacy in part
– Credit monitoring Fraud insurance over two years (for the estimated 1 million PSN and Qriocity users living in Canada).
Natasha Maksimovic, a 21 year old Canadian gamer and the plaintiff of the action, said:
“If you can’t trust a huge multi-national corporation like Sony to protect your private information, who can you trust. It appears to me that Sony focuses more on protecting its games than its PlayStation users.”
In other news;
Sony has responded to the congress and suggests that Anonymous was responsible.
The letter encompasses the following key points:
– Sony has been victim to cyber attacks
– They discovered a file planted in the SOE servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”
– A time-line of the scope of the attack
– No fraud translations have occurred; thereafter, the attack.
– Priorities regarding data
– Prevention of future attacks
