A browser-based PC emulator written in JavaScript has been created by Fabrice Ballard; interestingly enough, this PC emulator runs Linux.
Not only does this open opportunities for very interesting future developments it can allow for a real benchmark of JavaScript performance. In order to fully utilize the emulator you will need an HTML5 compliment browser.
