Group Nexus is one of the largest managers of parking sites in the UK. They manage over 1,200 sites and offer expertise in the parking and transport sector. I worked with their CTO and Solution Architect to develop a scalable digital platform designed for repeatability, scalability and manageability over time.

Background & Objectives

Background

Group Nexus offer APNR, consultation, insights and white label solutions for their customers. They want to update and re-platform their existing car park management solution with improved machine learning models, a completely new dashboard with advanced monitoring, data and reporting.

The introduction of new data pipelines and ML models through AWS are key feature-drivers for consumers

Objectives

To successfully deliver on the requirements set, at a high level, the objectives outlined were:

  • Strengthen existing tech team
  • Ideate tech stack and architecture in cloud service provider
  • Embed agile ways of working
  • Rapidly accelerate pace of delivery

Responsibilities

As the Principal Engineer on the Group Nexus enterprise platform architecture, my responsibilities were:

Architecture

Architect enterprise platform solutions for integrating with multiple data sources, third-party providers and advanced computer vision ML models

Stakeholder Management

Work with stakeholders across the management team to agree on project requirements, build the enterprise architecture, benefits model and project delivery plan

Enterprise Integrations

Third-party enterprise technical integrations with multiple providers including large grocery outlets, law enforcement (VOI) and ANPR services 

AI Computer Vision

Entity extraction using computer vision for vehicular data and available parking spaces.

Outcomes

Enterprise Solution

A built and developed end-to-end business case for the development and delivery of a new customer and back-office portal that sits on top of an enterprise infrastructure.

The business case included a project plan, benefits case and technical delivery overview including multiple architecture diagrams.

Tools & Technologies

This project branched into many varying aspects of engineering and technologies, and a few tools to aid in greater productivity.
